Sauber Motorsport recently inaugurated a brand-new British headquarters in preparation for the transformation of its Formula 1 team into the Audi works squad in 2026. The German manufacturer is set to take over Sauber, a Swiss team that has been a part of F1 since 1993. Despite primarily operating from Switzerland and Germany, Audi will establish a third facility in the UK’s ‘motorsport valley’, home to seven F1 teams, aiming to attract top talent without requiring relocation abroad. The Bicester technology hub, covering 444 acres in Oxfordshire, was officially opened by Sauber on Tuesday. This move is seen as crucial for tapping into the talent in Motorsport Valley and bolstering technical capabilities in anticipation of Audi’s F1 entry. The decision to base operations in the UK should help with cost management, as Switzerland’s high living expenses have previously posed challenges in this regard. With Sauber currently near the bottom of the 2025 constructors’ standings, drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are expected to lead the team’s 2026 campaign under Audi ownership.
